Link with Partners

SEAL aim to reduce inequalities and ensure equal access to a healthy lifestyle for all residents in the South of Glasgow. We take a holistic approach to activities that improve health at the grass roots level. We take a community development approach and work in partnership with other agencies and link into wider health strategies.

SEAL have over 20 years experience in successfully targeting men and women of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and social groups with an array of healthy lifestyle services and activities. The project main funders are NHS CHCP in south Glasgow, People and Communities Fund, Glasgow City Council Integrated Grant Fund and a variety of other funders.

What We Can Deliver

We work with partners and forums to deliver at least 10 bespoke health events per year. Ongoing, we hold regular community activities including 32 weaning fayres, walking groups, alternative therapies, and open day health events. Our award winning Fruit Barras alone reach 400 people per year, 7 per week in various venues.. In December 2014 we will reach 600 young children over four days, in partnership with Bookbug and CHCP and other groups providing fruit cups, information and Christmas entertainment. The Gorbals Summer Fair is held on the first Saturday in June each year at St.Francis Centre.  About 30 local groups, projects and take part in planning this huge community family event.

Our Expertise

The SEAL board have over 25 years experience in working with the community. Both the Manager and Deputy Manager have degree qualifications Community Development and Education (2004) and over 18 years grass roots experience. SEAL provides a high level of quality management to it’s large pool of sessional staff, therapists and committed volunteers with ongoing project plans and reviews.
